Itinerary

• 15/10/10: Start from Howrah by Duranta.
• 16/10/10: Arrival at Delhi. Reserved bus to Hardwar.
• 17/10/10: Hardwar to Ukhimath by reserved car.
• 18/10/10: Ukhimath to Uniana by reserved car. Uniana to Khatara by trek (upwards).
• 19/10/10: Khatara to Bura Madmaheshwar by trek (upwards).
• 20/10/10: Stay at Bura Madmaheshwar in our own tents.
• 21/10/10: Bura Madmaheshwar to Bantoli by trek (downwards).
• 22/10/10: Bantoli to Uniana by trek (downwards). Uniana to Chopta by reserved car.
• 23/10/10: Stay at Chopta in rented cottage. Trek/horseride to Tunganath and back.
• 24/10/10: Chopta to Hrishikesh by reserved car.
• 25/10/10: Stay at Hrishikesh.
• 26/10/10: Hrishikesh to Hardwar by Auto. Start from Hardwar by train.
• 27/10/10: Train.
• 28/10/10: Arrival at Kolkata.

Places of stay

• Hardwar: Chintamani Ashram. Rs 300 per room. Each room large enough for at least 4 people. Attached bath.
• Ukhimath: Hotel Dev Villa. Attached bath. Meals available.
• Khatara: A village house let out to trekkers. Rs 1500 for the two rooms and use of kitchen. No toilet.
• Bura Madmaheshwar: Our own tent.
• Bantoli: Vishwa lodge. Rs 400 for a room without attached toilet. Rs 500 for a room with attached toilet. Each room enough for 3 or 4.
• Chopta:A rented cottage. Rs 1200 for the entire cottage consisting of two rooms, each with its own attached toilet. No kitchen, but cooking allowed in an adjoining open space.
• Hrishikesh: GMVN tourist lodge called Rishilok. Attached toilet. No kitchen facility. Meals available.

Modes of transport

• New Delhi to Hardwar: Reserved small bus. Rs 8000.
• Hardwar to Ukhimath: Reserved car. Rs 8500 (for Hardwar to Uniana, though the driver left us at Ukhimath).
• Ukhimath to Uniana: Reserved car.
• Uniana to Chopta: Reserved car. Rs 1700.
• Chopta to Rudraprayag: Reserved car. Rs 2500.
• Rudraprayag to Hrishikesh: Reserved car. Rs 2700.
